About Us: Hot Springs Amateur Radio Club (HSARC)
Welcome to the Hot Springs Amateur Radio Club (HSARC), a vibrant community of amateur radio enthusiasts located in beautiful Hot Springs, South Dakota. Established in March 1962, we are proud to be an affiliate of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), carrying the callsign KØHS.
Our Meetings
We meet regularly on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM. Meetings are open to the public, and you don’t need to be a licensed ham to join us—everyone with an interest in radio communication is welcome!
Our clubhouse is conveniently located east of the Hot Springs Public Library at the corner of 11th Street and Catholican Avenue. Just look for the small building adorned with antennas. To accommodate CDC recommendations during the COVID-19 pandemic, our meetings are held at the South Annex building, located at 709 Jensen Highway.
Our Repeaters
HSARC owns and operates two 2-meter repeaters, ensuring reliable communication across the region:
- Battle Mountain Repeater: 146.700 MHz with a PL tone of 146.2
- Mt. Coolidge Repeater: 147.120 MHz with a PL tone of 146.2
These repeaters help us stay connected locally and with linked systems across a broader range.
Supporting New Operators
At HSARC, we’re passionate about introducing new operators to the world of amateur radio. Whether you’re curious about the hobby, seeking training materials, or ready to earn your license, we’re here to help!
- Volunteer Examiner (VE) Team: We conduct four scheduled test sessions annually and offer additional sessions on request.
- ARRL Registered Instructors: Our experienced instructors are available to teach all three license classes—held as needed to accommodate your schedule.
